Does anyone know how to do beautiful inlay in timber?
I dabble a bit in that area, what kind of thing did you have in mind?
Have a look in the marquetry forum I have done a couple of posts In there.
Have a look at some of my early posts
I know this is an old thread , but I came across some old photos of some inlays I`ve done ,hope these give you some inspiration.
I love the understated Aussie style.
Words like "dabble", i.e. make stunning one-off pieces.
Slightly off-thread, but thirty years ago I was at a cocktail party in England. I heard one of the Pommies asked the late Keith Miller if he had ever played cricket.
With a total straight face, he said "I rolled my arm over now and again."
Understated. I really enjoyed telling the Pommie how good he really was......while Keith went off to chat up some good looking woman.
Also, there are some good videos on You Tube for inlay routing, one in particular by The Wood Whisperer, here:

I am still practicing, so no pics from me yet.
