legal query on shed extension
Hey members, please go the bottom (bold italic) if you don't want to read the following.
l am in the process of extending my shed, (timber storage and a "dirty area" the plans were approved but l did verbally state that l was going to use shade cloth on the outside.
Anyrate the council put down the extension as a shed veranda, the footings got ticked, so we (l mainly watched - too slow) put up the frame and roofed it, so the B/inspector comes along and says why have you used hoop iron bracing on some of the wall corners, my reply to stop it wobbling!
Well that means you are going to frame it, l reply yes for shade cloth, l then ask what happens if l use corro, he said it doesn't matter if its corro or shade cloth you are still framing it, l was in two minds S/Cloth or corro.
So l have to change the plans, to say its a shed extension, including what l am doing as to framing between the posts.
My question is - I have payed the fee but can they make you pay another fee as they may deem there is extra expense is more than the initial estimate that owner builders have to state, in their initial plans.
l have heard other Victorian council B/inspectors, simply sign off once the footings, load supporting frame (posts and beams) and the roof are on - they DO NOT worry about framing for cladding.
Now l was told by "some" to use another council as ours is difficult to work with, i don't know any different, but they seem to have that "l am god" like persona, l really struggle with the communication side, l am going to get them to write everything down, so as to avoid the confusion.
Yes, l did stuff up by not putting it down as a extension, but l just feel they are gouging us to pay for their over payed CEO ( probably on 250k+)
Cheers
Stevo
