Had a commission to make a clock as a graduation present for a wonderful girl who has just finished an Engineering degree - she was also a woodturning student of mine when she was about 16 or 17. Stipulation was that it must be from timbers available on their property out near the Gemfields, the rest was up to me. Decided it needed to have a contemporary look which is difficult when you're talking wooden clocks and her parents suggested a skeleton movement might suit the engineering aspect. Had me stumped for a week or two then came up with this idea - I love it to bits and so did the clients and recipient. Will be making a few more I suspect, including one for ourselves. The burl is Blue-gum and the sleeve around the movement is Emu Apple.
