First Class Passenger Carriage (Early 1900's)
Hi All,
Enough time cleaning out the shed and making train whistles - time for the next project, although Cathie wants me to redo our front lawn / garden area. May have to try and squeeze that in.
Am going to build my own carriage to sit behind the just completed 4-6-2 locomotive.
It will be a combination First Class AA and a First Class / Second Class AB carriage. However - this carriage will be First Class only with 4 carriage compartments that will seat 6 people to a compartment. Both entry ends to the carriage will have some open First Class smoking area seating - before getting to the individual compartments. All seats will be black leather with brass coated overhead luggage racking. Sash windows (at this stage anyway) opening at the top will prevent cinders from inconveniencing the "passengers". There will hopefully be some fine finials and other woodwork extravagances for this carriage. Probably also need to include a loo and handbasin.
Of course this will be the same scale as the locomotive - 1/7th scale. I am limited with space for the final display - therefore the carriage will be 1800mm overall length. That will make the loco - carriage combination 3900mm long.
I anticipate a longer period of time to build this than the locomotive. I expect between 12 and 18 months.
Thanks for all the support on my locomotive - it is really appreciated.
Attached are a few photos and plans I have got my hands on - but generally I think a lot will be expanded upon as I progress. It will be a passenger car that I think I would like to travel in.
Regards
Keith
