I recommend reading this thread.

If you don't want to read the thread here is a summary.
Few people understand that the value of wood (even firewood) is mostly in the processing costs
So unfortunately unless it's a very exotic species, and I would not put Chinese tallow in that category, the cost of dropping and removing an urban tree is far in excess of the value of the wood. Most commercial millers value an urban log at $0 and even if its from a non-urban source, the commercial rate for usable logs i.e. the trunk at the source is typically $50/ton.
Have you had a quote from a tree lopper to drop and remove the tree?
A fairer deal night be to pay someone who wants the trunk and is prepared to remove the tree half the cost of a tree lopper would charge to drop and remove the tree.
how tall is the tree? diameters of the trunk at 1.4m and at base just above root flare. Are there any services near the tree. I would consider felling the tree if someone wanted the timber but for a small fee to cover my time.
Thank you, I suspected it may not be worth anything, I havent heard of anyone making furniture etc out of chinese tallow, it seems a bit soft and sappy too.
