Yari Ganna/Kanna in Australia
I am a convert to Japanese tools and have been so for some time. As such I am on the hunt for a traditional style Yari Ganna also referred to as Yari Kanna in Aus.
I have seen the Kawasei ones from Japanese tools Australia that have a steel ferrule and a turned handle about that are about $325Aud. However I am wanting one with a traditional shape and less rounded point. I am happy to handle one myself with traditional cane wrapping. Not too fussed about price this said I expect to pay no more than $1000 AUD for just the blade. I have seen the Yari Ganna by Tsunesaburo, Tasai and Iyoroi available from in the US however the preference is one with a Blue steel#1 blade steel and plain iron body rather than a Damascus steel body.
If anyone knows of a good source of Yari Ganna please let me know
