Bandsaw Blades
I recently bought a Powermatic 14" bandsaw and have been looking for a suitable blade for making bandsaw boxes, mainly a 3/16 10TPI blade 2860 long. Finally came across Combined Saw & Knife at Deception Bay. They made one for me a posted the same day. Have yet to try it.
Cheers

Interesting. Please let the forums know how it goes. Is it a carbon steel blade, a bimetal blade or a tungsten carbide tooth tipped (tct) blade? I got sick of carbon steel blades because they blunt so fast in Australian timbers. They are fine for pine and similar though. My favourites are the tct blades because they last so long. Lenox make one that is designed to give very smooth surfaces (triple chip grind) and would be good for bandsaw boxes if it available in that width.

So far I have only made 3 boxes with the blade, cutting WRC, Tassie Oak and Pine, nothing particularly taxing. It is a carbon steel blade and have no idea how long it will last. So far so good. At $17.95 made to length seemed OK. The main problem I had was getting a blade of the right length. they make them to whatever length you need. Only time will tell if its any good.
Cheers Bucky.

They have various types of blades made to order, I'm using a BI-Metal from them. I've not had a chance to do much cutting but obviously a huge improvement over the off the shelf carbon I was using.
BTW I was going to resharpen the carbon blade and keep it for cutting MDF, but they only charged around $7 to resharpen it, going over next week to pick it up.

Been meaning to buy new joiner blades/knifes from Combined Saw & Knife. Apparently they buy long lengths and cut to size.

I use a 3mm blade 14tpi from Peacock saw in Brisbane and have impressed with the performance of the blade for bandsawn boxes I have cut complex shapes in up to 90mm thick hardwoods with pleasant success. I have been impressed with the performance and cut with these blades.
