Adaptor for Festool vac to "other" tools
Hi All,
I've got a CT26 vac which does a pretty good job of keeping my work area clear of sander dust, however it's always bugged me that anything other than my ROS haven't been able to adapt onto it (easily) because the end of the vac hose wasn't the right size (because I have a multicultural tool cabinet).
NO MORE!
I had to finish levelling off a built-in table/bench in the study with my Hitatchi belt sander and, not wanting grit and dust all over the books, decided to spend the time finding a way to adapt the sander on to the vac in a less haphazard (and frustrating) way than previously.
After going to all sorts of big box hardware, rubber and automotive stores, I finally found the key:

I believe that it's the hose from a late 80s, early 90's hilux, either way, the code on the hose should help you find it. I think it cost me around $20.
Not needing the whole lot, I measured around 50-75mm off the end of it, cut it with a stout knife and held it on to the tool with a hose clamp on to the sander (sorry, forgot to take a photo of that). Now the festool vac hose pushes into the end of the new fitting very snugly (doesn't try and come out at all).

From memory, the critical diameter was an ID of 34mm for the hose, which led to it (just) needing a hose clamp for most 3rd party tools, but still quite tight for the rubber vac hose.
