I recently acquired a vintage AVO multimeter meter as a gift, but unfortunately there are no manuals.
Can anyone help out with a copy or link to download. I have only found later AVO models on the internet which are not particularly helpfull. It appears to be in very good condition.

I was invited to ckeck through Jim's shed to see if I could find any manual / schematics which I would like to inherit. Found old CD with "AVO MANUAL" hand written on the envelope. Surprise, surprise .. I could open it on my laptop and now have a copy of the original manual.
For the benefit of anyone not familiar with the AVO meter, the attached images will give you an indication of its capabilities.

Now to check it out - I suspect it will need to be recapped and aligned, but a visual inspection does not suggest any major problems.

We had a slightly smaller/younger version at work and we kept using it up until the early 2000's. It was the only multimeter that would work reliably in the vicinity of a strong magnetic field which badly affected the LCD displays on out newer multimeters.
I've got a box of old avo meters, earlier ones than that, black bakelite or something similar probably from the 30's. All of the missing the battery covers of all things, luckily they are easy to make.
I've got a decent american valve tester but I could never afford an avo. I don't recall them ever being cheap. I have a friend with one but one of the pots has gone wrong, a special pot as I recall.
Some day we will all be dead and no one will care about this old stuff anymore.
I think it's actually an AVO MkII (4109).
