Fitting an RTA300 table to maxi extension rails
Having a small workshop I wanted to make more use of my router table, but lack the space for another tool stand, and didn't want to disturb the accuracy of my Mk 3 saw bench by constantly swapping out table tops. My solution was to build a carriage for the RTA300 to fit on the maxi extension rails. I use the router only occasionally, and then only for light use, so this seems a reasonable option. I drilled out the pop rivets holding on the plastic locking tabs, then made up a carriage from aluminium square tube, which I then screwed to the front and rear rails of the RTA 300. The side rails take the four segments of 50mm tube to use as feet on the rails. They are measured to fit between the rail stops. If necessary I will add additional clamps, but so far the prototype seems pretty stable. Perhaps an idea for Triton to take up in future?
