Any one tried Super Titebond compared to Original Titebond ?
Ive used plenty of Original. Just wondering if or how its better?

19 litres is a bit much to buy in one hit for my usage, but from the US web site Super Titebond is described as a glue for "professional shops" some details (again from the US site)
Super Titebond Wood Glue is a high-quality, professional woodworking glue that offers superior sandability and solvent-resistance. It develops a bond stronger than wood and provides a longer working time than traditional aliphatic resin glues. Super Titebond resists stress imposed by heat and moisture during the production of panels, squares and other wood parts. This makes it the ideal choice for edge and face gluing as well as other woodworking operations.
- Application Temperature: 50°F.
- Open Assembly Time: 5 minutes (70°F./50%RH)
- Total Assembly Time: 15-20 minutes (70°F./50%RH)
- Minimum Required Spread : Approximately 6 mils or 250 square feet per gallon
- Required Clamping Pressure: Enough to bring joints tightly together (generally, 100-150 psi for softwoods, 125-175 psi for medium woods and 175-250 psi for hardwoods)
- Method of Application: Easily spread with a roller spreader or brush, or may be transferred to plastic bottles for finer gluing applications.
- Working Surfaces: Should be free of excessive dirt and dust. Do not apply to finished surfaces.
- Cleanup: Damp cloth while glue is wet. Scrape off and sand dried excess.
given how big the minimum size container is, at a guess the product is designed for use in some form of automated glue applicator.
Five minutes open time.....I think I will pass on that.
It was the 19 litre (minimum) pack size that put me off
It is supposed to be a higher solids glue, higher than TB Original (only by a few percentage points). I've used gallons of Titebond Supreme (which is about the same as original), but never used the Titebond super. I think the only real differences between original and super would be for cold pressing and gluing anywhere near end grain. You may get less bleed through with coarse grained veneers using the super, but "less" doesn't mean "none". And being higher solids, the glue won't travel as far up the end grain, but that doesn't really have any real world effect for what we do...unless we are gluing and screwing butt joints all day :D

Its a pity I cant get a 1 lt bottle to try. 19 Lt and never having tried it or hearing from someone with a glowing report means Ill stay clear.Quote:

19lt is very close to 5 of the 3.785 bottles

I spoke to two cabinet makers today who both use the Super TB . One just said they use it and they sell it. And they use it because its better / stronger that TB1. The other is a friend who gave me a good run down on it . I'll probably give a 19 lt of that a go now.

I never seem to be rushed for time Rob, I would have thought it was a bit longer than that. Once this lot is finished I will be going back to Aquadhere, I don't see the difference for my purposes.Quote:
