In an effort to build guitars solely from Australian products / timbers it seems I've hit a roadblock. I'm looking at 2 people who build electric pickups, one in particular seems to have the right selection, but I cannot find anyone who makes hardware. Machineheads, bridges/tailpieces. I have nothing against the overseas manufacturers just trying to support Australian Made.
Anyone know who is out there?
Wow! Very nice work there Kirby, I am not sure of anyone who manufactures hardware here. You could try and ask on the Australian/New Zealand Luthiers Forum - Index page (Australia and NewZealand Luthier Forum) I think most use the Gotoh tuners or similar in their builds. Have you thought about winding your own pups? I ask as it seems a lot of luthiers do. Some even cast their own hardware, they have more time and patience than me!
I understand what you mean though, I am trying to stick with sourcing Australian timber if I can (I mill timber too)
Making an entirely Aussie made instrument really appeals to me.

The anzlf is on my to do list, I did consider winding my own pups but there are others far better than I, that and I'm actually an acoustic builder.
I'm just letting loose on the electrics while I build my acoustic jigs.
What a great selection of timber we have in Australia.
