Mystery Jointer - Is this a Delta 654?
Hi all,
I've inherited an old jointer from my Grandfather's workshop after he passed away recently.
It's labeled "McPherson Powered Tools" and looks very much like a Delta 654.
I have not been able to locate much info on McPherson and am wondering if it is a rebadged Delta. Did McPherson import machines into Australia and rebadge them?
From the reading I've done in this thread I think I have a 654 model based on the fact that my stand almost looks home made. In any event the feet are different to the Delta 37-205 open stand model.
New Here- Delta Jointer planning restoration - Old Woodworking Machines
The motor is 3 phase which I will need to swap out for a single phase unit as I don't have 3 phase in my workshop. I was looking at using a VFD with the existing motor, but have been told the motor does not appear compatible to use a VFD.
I am considering doing a full breakdown and restoring the machine by repainting etc. At the very least I'll obviously clean up the tables and fence. It also needs new knives, so I need to confirm what unit I have so I can buy the correct knives.
If anyone can confirm the brand and model or any other information, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you
