Ok I am working on this one in bits and pieces as I have to keep this hidden from my partner as it is for her birthday next month. But I decided to try and make her a jewelery box from a mix of timber i have on hand. Also this is my first time dealing with finger joints so yes they do look a bit like a dogs breakfast.
So far this is the lid for it in the rough, top is Canadian cedar and the sides are Rimu, I glued the top on and used dowel pins on the corners for both a cos metic look and to make things a little bit stronger ( I hope ). This will get a tidy up with the block plane after the glue has set
