Makita Dropsaw Bevel Cut Will Strike Kerf Plate

Hi,

I got myself a new Makita LS1040 mitre / dropsaw (non-sliding). It's a great tool, but, when I went to do some bevel cuts I found that at the 45° angle the blade will connect with the kerf plate, so I didn't go any further. Has anyone else come across this / is the kerf plate meant to be "scored" with the first cut / does the depth of cut need to be adjusted?? Help - I have to get those bevel cuts done! Thanks.

Deleted, mistook it for a different saw.

The support plates do get cut up a bit, that's why they're plastic.

Machine manual says This tool is provided with the kerf board in the turn base to minimize tearing on the exit side of a cut. If the kerf groove has not yet been cut in the kerf board by the factory, you should cut the groove before actually using the tool to cut a workpiece. Switch on the tool and lower the blade gently to cut a groove in the kerf board.

So it does, thanks. It's on page 7 - which was stuck to page 6 by my sloppy and over-zealous glue-up technique. :doh:
