Older pod style 18v Makita to new 18v battery adapter

As per the title, has anyone had any experience with these?
Basically, an older 18v Makita cordless tool that takes the Nicad "pod" style batteries and with this adapter inserted allows the newer square li-ion batteries to be used.

I bought a replacement 2ah battery for the original screw gun I have but it only lasted 12 months. After reading Tonyz's thread about Makita batteries - about 15 threads down, I thought that already having about six of the newer 18v batteries, why buy an older style when I can use one of the newer ones if there was an adapter available. A quick google search and I found these.

I have a old 14v akita that I would like to convert, question does the old charger work with the new battery and adapter

Battery adaptability aside I would be first looking at the improvements of the old skins to the newer offerings.
They latest offerings are a lot more sophisticated and produce more torque and power than the old stuff in general.
I have several old skins of different brands sitting in my shed that collect dust because the new gear is that much better.

It might be time to bite the bullet and make the change rather than keep investing in old technology

While I'd normally agree with you, in this case one of my machines is a cordless collated screw gun that gets used only on rare occasions. A newer version would set me back $350+ which is a lot more than I would be prepared to pay for a seldom use machine. If I was using it on a more regular basis, then yeah I'd bite the bullet and fork out for a newer version.
