Sorry, there’s no cure. You just have to develop a habit of deliberately forcing it to one side/twisting it to eliminate the play and obtain repeatability in your cuts.
Pretty much all mitre gauges and similar items than run in channels have some play in them, the better ones have adjustments that can reduce it to acceptable levels.
Put masking tape on either side of the glide and see if there is any improvement
I thought the guide bar on the mitre was a split piece. You placed a screwdriver into the split and gave it a little tap to widen out the sides. I may be incorrect but I am sure I was able to take the play out when I had a Triton.

I seem to remember somebody describing how they used a dot punch some where on the slide for a slight amount of expansion to take up the play, cant find it online at present

There's a training video available for the Triton that goes through the setup. I'm sure there was a bit in it that had a work around for any looseness in the protractor. Might even be on youtube

I'm onto it
there's a groove facing upward on one side of the slide like a mini channel
I GENTLY pinched this channel with a pair of multi grips a tiny bit at a time until there was virtually no play at all

Glad you have solved it.
I have just pulled out the instruction manual that came with mine but there is no mention of that problem in it.
I seem to remember something about punching the runner also.
