Hi all, I'm chasing some aluminium t-slot profile to replace the table on my cnc, ideally 150-180 wide x 30-45 thick, does anyone know any suppliers (out South East way if possible) that have reasonable alu prices on profiles?
One supplier I looked some time back wanted around $200-$250 per l/m for 150 x 30 from memory.

Hi Ian. I just ordered some from MKalu they are in Lewis Rd, Knoxfield VIC 3180.
They have various sizes and fittings.

Thanks for that guys, I contacted AME and they had a 40x80/90 profile with weight=3.21kg/m @ $54/m, nothing wider/heavier though.
Mkalu have a great range, I'm waiting on pricing for the 30 x 150 heavy profile at 7.88kg/m which looks perfect for what I want.

Although it's quite thick walled and looks great, the bedplate profile/joiner from them would be the easiest to fit, but is only 20mm high, so I'm not sure if it would be fine enough, or I'd need to go at least the 28mm high one to reduce flex/vibration.

I bought mine from modular components. Excellent extrusion and the pieces they cut to size were very accurately cut. I just machined the holes for the special connecting bolts:)

The 240mm width is just perfect for my 6090, but if I could get it in a 28-32mm thickness it would be better still I think.

Got pricing from Mkalu, but they didn't have the thicker walled 30 x 150 profile, the standard 30 x 150 is $45ex l/m, and the 30 x 120 is $40ex l/m.
I'm a bit worried these two though won't be enough mass to adequately dampen noise/vibration.
As you can see, there's a massive difference in mass between the two 30 x 150 profiles.

I prefer to get the cheaper stuff and pack the pockets full or epoxy granite or basically a mix of epoxy, sand and rocks and it strengthens the extrusion and removes all the ringing and vibration.

If I really have to I'm still leaning to the 240 x 40 as I think it will give me the best rigidity and avoid any sag in the middle.
