I didn't know there was so much variation in Myrtle grain but turning something of that size really shows it up. The ones with the birdseye are my favourites. I don't recall seeing birdseye in Myrtle before but then again my knowledge of different woods is not extensive.
Very hard to tell without anything else in the photo to gauge against, but I would say in the vicinity of 100 - 150mm. When I was referring to size I was comparing against turning a pen where there is very little wood so you don't get all those variations.
Well you are not too far off the mark. Good guess. No need for the new Robust internal "C" shaped rest for these ones.
