I have some Wattle "Traditional Stain Reducer" and I'm wondering does anyone know what it is? My guess is that it is pretty much ordinary thinners like T20, which can be bought in 4 litre containers quite cheaply. In a small Wattyl can it is very expensive per litre indeed.

Have you tried sourcing the MDSS for the "reducer"
Unfortunately there are no SDS available online. Guess a phone call on Monday is an option.

Those are for the stain, not the reducer.
I ended up calling their Tech support, and they tracked down and sent me the SDS.Quote:

Now I guess someone may recognise this concoction as being another description for a standard thinner. I'll take a look at some of their universal thinners to see what they are made of and whether there are any similarities.
I'll report back on what I find.
EDIT:
I went through the SDS's for all their other thinners and they are all differently concocted, except their L747 and L748 thinners which have at least these 2 components plus some others.
How much it actually matters could only be determined by a bit of experimentation I guess. As for other types of thinners such as those available in big tins at Bunnings cheaply, I'll just have to try them out.
