Unusual Wattle.
Here are a couple of bud vases I knocked up to try this timber, giving them to the trees owner for his granddaughters. It is Acacia polystacia. It was a huge tree growing on very wet fertile soil and even though it is very heavy, it turned easily and had no silica. I have a lot of bowl and platter blanks slowly drying, can't wait to get into them. BTW, finished with Rustins Danish Oil.
rgds,
Crocy.

Nice looking wood crocy, nice little vases too. I would try turning one or two of the bowls green and see how they behave. Either turn to final thickness and let them move or leave thick enough to re chuck and true up. Green bowls certainly dry a lot quicker and turn much easier than a dry blank.
