Thanks for sharing this.
Really liked the " Pod Chair " .
I would say that there is some serious talent around the country.
I agree with barramonday, the pod chair
My vote goes to the strip canoe.
Brilliant, Alex
This is a case where we should shout the praises to Australian Wood Review Magazine for running this brilliant annual competition. The 15-18 year old students work so hard on their entries, guided by their teachers, to produce consistently stunning works. Particularly important is that it is a design and make competition, not just about copying someone else's work.
We should loudly praise the magazine and their sponsors for their foresight.
We should praise the teachers and schools for their encouragement and guidance.
We should praise all the students for their creativity and hard work.
For those of us who prefer to avoid "anti-social media" here are the entries on the Wood Review website:

With work of that standard being produced, the future of wood-working is pretty safe.
Congratulations to all involved. I would not like to have been one of the judges. :2tsup:
Is it just me or were all the chairs/lounges (including the steambent bench) very pleasing to look at? The two pod chairs are definite standouts, Pod Chair - Australian Wood Review Pod Chair - Australian Wood Review
For me though, the guitar and seat is such a great combo Acoustic Guitar and Guitar Stand'/'Seat - Australian Wood Review. I'm pretty sure I didn't have such refined and restrained taste in year 12!
But I'd agree with Chesand, would not want to be a judge in this competition. I think they need sub categories. So many worthy winners.
It is a very high standard and the judges will have a difficult time. I've been a judge for this sort of comp., and even with objective criteria, it's not hard for three judges to come up with three different results. Throw in the fact that we only see photographs, and it's quite likely that the Peoples' Choice will be different to theirs.
I'm with you, Alkahestic - that guitar and stool/stand combo was my favourite. What a beautiful design for the stool/stand.
All worthy winners though. Fantastic stuff!

Good Morning Everyone
Rather than just congratulate the students on their great work here, may I suggest that we all go one big step further and encourage our friends and acquaintances to do the same - log on and vote.
Second, please thank Linda Nathan, Editor of Australian Wood Review, for the great work that she and her team are doing.
Seasons Greetings
Graeme
