My very first power tools when I was a kid and there was no such thing as personal safety, were all attachments for a drill (a Sher drill found on hard rubbish day!), and as such they all performed pretty crappily and were fairly awful to use.
So this cracked me up when I saw it, a jigsaw attachment for a drill, at more than the cost of an equivalent crappy jigsaw new:

I'm no expert, but aren't a lot of drills out there able to take a 1/4" hex bit directly? I'm pretty sure at least two of my Milwaukee ones do, but I honestly don't know if that's representative of the average drill.
And for those that are Jacobs style chucks, they can accept near any reasonable hex insert, yes?
And if I am right in thinking this, and one was about to design this sort of device, would one not make sure that the hex attachment bit on it was... like... 1/4"? You know - so that those folks without Jacobs chucks might also be tempted by this rather amusing looking bit of engineering?
Yet they choose instead to supply this with 0.3 inch (8mm) hex attachment instead... I'll just assume the rest of the device uses the same level of well thought out, clever engineering, and make a purchasing decision accordingly ;)

My first power tool was a Sher Mastermatic 2 speed drill, which came with a 5" circular saw attachment. The drill was good, and is still my go-to portable power drill. Not so the saw. It was frightening, and became more so, the more you learned, but I built my daughter's first desk with it.
I loved the old ally cased Black & Decker's; from memory you could attach an orbital sander, a circular saw, a hedge trimmer, clippers and even a wood lathe. I don't recall a jigsaw but there probably would have been.
My first power tool was the Sher Powermatic I found on hard rubbish day, they actually threw it out with the drill press stand, I thought I'd won tatts!
One of the few things I got rid of later, wish I'd kept it though!
I used to have one of those jigsaw attachments years ago. Can’t remember but it was either Skil or Black and decker
I remember cutting up plywood with it to make skateboard decks
