Osage orange collection
The Wood Shop at Ulmarra (just north of Grafton, NSW) always has a good display of burls, slabs etc but it was the offcut of Osage Orange, split in just about every direction that caught my eye. Not good for much, except I thought I could get 6 or more pens out of it (ended up with 9 :D). Here are most of them. (No connection with the Wood Shop except as a happy customer and window shopper).

I don't get up that way often, but when I do I always stop at Ulmarra. Have been known to pick up a few pieces of timber there myself. :2tsup:

Osage does come up nice in a pen as it glimmers differently depending on which way the light hits it. Polishes nicely being quite a hard wood.

Pretty handsome family group there Gary. Your Osage Orange looks a lot better than the bits I have.
