Accurate Drill Locator - No
I have to warn you that this is potentially a tale of woe. Recently I have seen a spate of advertisements come up on the internet, mostly linked to various woodworking sites I have perused. For all the world it looks like one of those "one time tools" Woodpeckers in the US make.
I didn't trouble at the time to look up Woodpeckers, although subsequently I have done just that.
These are some stills from the website:

It is interesting to note that the pix I downloaded from the website would not load onto the Forum. They came up as being "invalid." A harbinger of doom perhaps? I had to take camera shots of my computer screen and download those.
This is the site I bought from...I think.
THE BEST WOODWORKING DRILL LOCATOR IN 2021 (wellpob.com)
I say "I think," because going back to my Paypal statement there seems to be no real indication as to who they were. Additionally there are several apparent sellers with the website seemingly the same except for the name. They include but may not be limited to:
LEYACT
WELLPOB
MIXCUN
HELKAY
GENIWO
In the link to the website above there are videos. When you look closely, which I didn't, the videos show the depicted tool bearing the name Woodpecker and the name Auto-Line, but the still shots do not show this. The videos, on reflection, are also very poor quality as if they have been pirated.
This is the Woodpecker site for reference:
Auto-Line Drill Guide ™ (woodpeck.com)
You will also note that it sell for in excess of US$250.00 for the basic model!
This is what I received. A cheap copy made of plastic. Nothing like the depictions in their thread.

The fundamental issue is that it is not the product described. At this stage I have not contacted them with my complaint. Primarily because it is difficult to find out who I am dealing with. However, I paid through Paypal and I will be alerting them to what is possibly a scam, although I am not making that claim just yet as I do not wish to cast aspersions before I have contacted them.
I am posting the thread so anybody contemplating this device, which looks good on the face of it, can check with the seller whether their product is made of aluminium or plastic.

Paul
