Milling some WA Sheoak Logs
We had a fair number of sheoaks blow down in the strong winds this winter. Pictured below are some of the logs but there were about 30 total. The largest is probably 800mm diameter. The longest log was about 5m. Very difficult to get long clear boards from Sheoak. The trees don't grow straight, and the timber is prone to rot and water damage. I also tried to maximise the flame pattern in the boards. Some amazing lace flame pattern in some of the boards. We ended up with close to 5 cubic metres of sheoak boards. I'll try to post a shot when all the boards are stacked and drying, and hopefully get a pic of some of the grain. Cheers, Zac.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d77e68e46d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c81f08cd99.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...34f3db1db7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...662d490215.jpg
