Interesting. I have not seen one of those.
I have not watched the whole video but at the 10:18 mark there is a better view. It looks to me as though the two blades are adjustable within a narrow range with the separation of the blades being a small block of wood of the appropriate size. There is some sort of screw adjustment to clamp onto the wood, but I can't see that clearly. It also looks as though the two blades are made in the style of JP chisels with a hollow back. It is almost a pair of very sharp, giant tweezers or salad tongs. :)

They seem quite popular in Japan for marking out kumiko for the half laps and also for mortises.
Japanese tools seem to stock them know too.

Hi,
Just watched that video and at 39 minutes he has a
lovely low angle plane that looks so easy to use. Much
easier than the English ones to make as well.
Martin.
Was it just me or did he drop his square, deliberately ?
Cheers Matt.
What impressed me most was the perfect fit at the end - a dollop of glue in each mortice & tapped the whole thing together, perfectly square (unless he planed that little wooden trysquare to match off-camera). Who needs clamps or straps? Leave those to the amateurs....
:D
