I bought this from the Woodshow a few years ago and was told it was Gidgee can anyone confirm please. Turns well and is actually a nice timber to work with.

looks a bit light. in colour but it could be. Gidgee has a LPG smell when working it.
also known as "stinking wattle" for a reason - in wet weather it stinks! The first certainly looks like Gidgee.Quote:

Looks a lot like the Gidgee we get over here in the west. Acacia Pruinocarpa or Western Gidgee, common to the Goldfields and Pilbara regions of WA.
