Won this on the Eagle site, finally got round to making it. The blank is made by Jeff's "Workingforwood" on the IAP site. Jeff calls it "Red Scorpion" in presence this looks better than the photos so I called this closed end Jnr. Statesman "the Scorpion King".
The box also made by "Workingforwood". Box is finished in BLO. The pen finished in CA. Hope you enjoy it, I have. Amos:)
It would look entirely in character in an Egyption Tomb, Tut Tut.
fascinating how far you can go where someone else has been, the maker of the original stands proud, I imagine you also had moments of tension turning the exquisite pen and you did well, have fun along the way. The world is closing in on me so I will pass the making of time taking one offs to others and try to get to the great number that await me. Be safe my friend.

Found out from the maker of that blank, Jeff, "workingforwood" on the IAP site, that the wood used is Bloodwood and Staghorn Sumac, still trying to find out what the scorpion is made from. Also found out that this particular type of blank is a "pretty penny" . Amos:)
This is straight from "workingforwood" thread, posted on the IAP site, gives you a background to the pen-- The big big kahuna...I call this " Red Scorpion" and it is $100. Why ?!?! You get a bloodwood and sumac indian blanket with a red scorpion in the center, and traditional ziggy lower barrel. You also get a mostly completed matching pen box! Check the final picture...that is not your box, but it is. There's two of these "Red Scorpion's", but only one for sale...the one in the last pic is my box with a coat of finish on it so you see the colors. Note the stripes on the box portion too. Your box is complete, bored out and barrel hinges include. All you need to do is sand it, finish it, install hinges and line the inside. I always line my boxes with black felt. The box also only opens to 95 degrees, which means the lid doesn't slam the table when opened :) The box will hold a Jr Gent II that is 5 months pregnant, and is long enough for a closed end pen. Yes...the ziggy barrel is long enough for you to turn this baby into a real show stopper too.
