Ok....so this has taken me about 6 months so far....

And this is where I am at.

I got some more stuff prep'd, got some thin pieces sanded down on one side...ready for the thickness sander.

Enough slicing and dicing.....

Lets get the lathe cranking here.....

Took the piece in the last photo above, turned it on its side, traced the pattern again, cut the pieces out on the bandsaw......glued some more thin pieces and some more thick pieces in again..........

Glued some thin bits, and some thick bits together, and when I cleaned it up, it looked a lot like this........

Made some thin Pieces of wood.....about 0.7mm (as in a previous pict).

I didn't take many picts at this stage, but to explain....

I cut a piece of purpleheart, padauk and cocobolo of similar size. About 40mm by 40mm by 120 mm.

Drew the pattern on these pieces,...

Thought I'd try and do another one of these WIP threads.

They help keep me motivated, and also keep me out of trouble.

Work will progress at a much slower pace that a couple of the other...
