I have heard that reasonable results can be had with resolution down to 150dpi if you don't stand to close. But to do 300 dpi would require a massive file to print a size of 30"x20"

this is one i did with blue fill.

The blue is crushed/powdered turquoise chips (done in mortar and pestle ). I just sprinkle a bit in any part that needs filling then soak with thin...

A calendar would probably be easier to do than a poster. A poster size print would ideally require the photo to be taken with a camera with high resolution, depending on the size of the poster...
