Hi Woodworkers. I have seen on a metal shaping machine, 220/380 volts. The machine was connected to 3 phase 415 volt supply. What does this mean? Could someone please explain simply.

I am able to buy a Waldown drill press (CHEAP) which has a 3 phase 3/4 hp motor. I dont have 3 phase and thinking of changing the motor to a single phase unit. Has anyone done this? Any ideas...
