    It complicates the pipework, but It apears to solve both problems.

    Our dishwasher makes very annoying noises ( as lots of other peoples do too ) when its running, as there is a direct line between the drain inlet and the sinks. Its like a pair of horns!

    From Googling, It looks like all the decent quality vices use Flat Spiral springs for the clamping mechanism, instead of the wire spriral spring mine has.
    It makes sense and a much better solution....

    I have lots of 3 and 4 mm straight spiral bits but no compression or down cut bits. Have not needed any for what I do.

    Maybe I'll order some 6mm compression spiral bits for this job.
