Personally I have a Tormek and wouldn't advise otherwise. Yes they are more expensive but the quality between their jigs and others is undebatable (if that's a word, if not let's make it one).

I use a cheap 6mm chisel to dig a hole around it then use some pliers to pull it out. After working in a timber salvage yard, it was the best method I found. Good luck with it all.
