Also got another thing to ask, is timber primer/ wood conditioner the same thing but just with a different name? and will oil based wood conditioner be ok going underneath water based stain?

I've got myself a coffee table that i think is made out of pine. I have already bought Cabot's water based stain and finish but having a problem getting a straight answer when it comes to wood...
