Ther is definatley an art to using peel ply, firstly an extra pair of hands is a great help, secondly ther is generally two grades, I find the heavier one the easiest to use, its less likley to float...

No more gaps
I wash out empty no more gaps tubes and fill them with epoxy fillet mix.
