Yes Scented Rosewood is notorious for 'bleeding'
Also often has an irregular bole making for poor recovery of sawn timber
Really pretty wood though

Could be a precursor to some pretty lumber

Remember water will release much faster at the ends of the board (some 12x) during seasoning than the remaining surfaces
This is why wax end sealing is critical
Stops the ends from checking...

Keeping crown cut stuff at the bottom of the stack and quarter/riftsawn stuff at the top will work wonders in controlling any degrade during the seasoning process

Here's an example of 'premium' grade Acacia
Figured and quarter sawn
Superb for electric guitars caps
All about the quality old mate

$1600 - $3200 for Pine/Hardwoods
$2400 - $4000 for Cabinet species
Some exotics are more expensive
Burl/figure/quarter sawn expect a 'premium' price
Small quantities will also...

Tallowwood is around 2000 and Brush box 3000
I have milled some very large examples of both these species
The Brush box was around 1500mm d.b.h with a short bole...very very firm wood!

Is this normally the case when you mill Ash?
Or is the log simply 'harder' than normal?
That hardwood log is quite big and gnarly too
She'd be firm cutting I reckon

Apparently wacks into Elm and Walnut too
And will kill large standing Ash trees in around 4 years
