I have managed to get good feed with no snipe using Lance's instructions. Interesting that snipe can be eliminated by both increasing and decreasing pressure!

There is plenty of clamping capacity for a blade as you describe. I don't think you will have any trouble fitting it in. -

Foot Brake
Models sold in Aus tend not to have foot brakes. I think it is a US thing. Felder/Hammer have electronic braking which is much more efficient. The footbrake is a mechanical friction brake which wears.
