It looks like the plastic corner insert has broken, if you release those 2 screws (one in each rail) then you will be able to remove the 2 halves that are broken, once removed you could replace them...

Not saying there's anything wrong with the workmanship, but I would have lost that curve by scribing in the plain backing tiles and kept the decorative pattern tiles symmetrical like the right hand...

Someone may correct me, but Stanley changed the shape of their blades (Irons) over the years and some were square at the top and others were curved.

Reading this I am not sure the logic is totally correct in practise if the blade is say centre of the sole, then the plane would register first at the toe side and the blade would start to take a cut...
