Ah, OK, NOW this makes more sense even if it seems like it would be a balancing act to keep everything together - with no internal support and just the blanks/tubes and bushings all jammed together,...

After discovering that both Brasso and EEE get black stuff off the metal bushings, I decided to try making some wooden bushings just for the polishing step.

I tried something like that in the beginning on a classic fountain pen. Unfortunately it seems to have spread the tubes just enough (cap tube anyway) that it is very sloppy and loose when you put...

I need to make something like that for the drill press, problem is that it only has a 2" throw and I need to figure out how to get it aligned with the table (SUPER cheap Chinese job).

That is why I quit using the little drop saw, no matter how hard I try, the hole through the blank is always off to some degree or another. With the trimmer, it is self squaring to the tube.

I got a barrel trimmer in the starter kit from PSI and it took a LOT of grunting and time to get trimmed down to the brass using an electric hand drill. Blanks were...

I got a couple sets of those work light things (1KW of light!) and set them up to best effect and then set the camera's color balance to tungsten. Works pretty well.
