what if you make it in two pieces
the first being the walls and back or front then
the second being as a lid for it to sit inside the barrel on a lip
then add your tap etc

cambell and jones a local hardwood dealers has a stack of them and there about 3 m x 2 m round or roundabouts and they sell for about 1800 to 2000 dollars still pricey
