Pitty there isnt much of an industry for charcoal nowdays, in australia anyway. All thoes 300mm lengths of cut off's could keep a 3rd world country warm through the winter

Thanks for the advice, i might just have to finish it off with a 2 part epoxy type clear. wont look as nice, but at least it will be smooth.
The drum sander was my best option, but it's too wide... -

From what i can understand toner even's out the moisture in the grains as oppose to filling in the deeper pours, like sealer does. Kind of like moisturizer for wood, looks the same too

If it is Cabots Crystal Clear your talking about, ive used it on a table and was happy with the results, dosent scratch too easy and generaly wears well.
