I sold my 15" blade thicknesser (heavy) and bought a Hare and Forbes helical cutter one. Works a treat, and no more blade setup!

Spraying Mirotone
Why so much thinner? Really interesting you should say that as I am trying to get a good flat finish with a hvlp setup and Mirotone gloss and always seem to be getting that wavy orange peel finish...

NC may not be common (easily ordered in Canberra)...
NC may not be common (easily ordered in Canberra) , but for acoustic (steel stringed) guitars its head and shoulders above anything else for sound quality! That's whey its still the finish on $3000+...

Jointing across the grain
For reasons which I'd rather not go into I ended up jointing with the grain on my 8" thicknesser (hmm - never done that before...). That is grain at 90 deg to teh fence. Result is a jointed board...

Wds 400
My out of the box WDS 400 drum sander has 2mm further off the feed platen at the motor end than at the outboard end. Outboard end is easy to adjust - shims provided, but for teh motor end...

just put together a carbatec 12" disk and belt sander - the bottom bearing doesn't align in the platen by 100/1000, and if you losen the platen and 'make the bearing fit when you secure it, the belt...
