So here is the doco. Mulga wood is a bone chisel. The strength of mulga is 90-120MPa perpendicular to grain and skull-bone is 140-210MPa. 140 is bigger than 120. Anyway..

Well if mulga could absorb / reject abuse it would be as hard / tough / brittle as metal . I've pushed a sharp mulga split-end and a chisel into softwood - the mulga cut less and rounded the edge....
