I made this pen from black and white mother of pearl. I use epoxy for most of my segmented pens. I use System III T88 epoxy and let it cure for 24 hours before working. Never had a failure.

If you are into casting you can do a watch part pen using one of those lionel watches. Find them on ebay very cheap.

I can tell you that I too make my own black blanks and even the most intense powders it is a good idea to reverse paint the blank after drilling for tube.

Man that looks tough to write with. The nib does not stick out far enough. Looks like you would have to hold the pen more straight upward. Just looking at the photos. Photos can be deceiving though.

Oh I know for sure that is what it is. I use it all the time. What is nice about that wood is it will never lose its color and will always be a deep red. Use it wisely.

It is bloodwood. Deep red in color and hard as heck. When burnt using dull tools it will blacken. Love that wood and it is expensive.
