You are correct cba. I only have a DI not a DTI. If I am getting a "false" high because of gravity and that is in the order of .01-.02mm, I am well within tolerance and won't be attacking my lathe...

The cutters are two sided HSS not the four sided carbide cutters found on the true spiral heads.

I have obtained them from both Carba-Tec and Hare & Forbes.

You should not have to use any glue at all. The tyre (poly or rubber) should just stretch over the rim of the wheel.
