Work proceeds at my regular glacial pace ... mortises hogged out on drill press. Tenons cut (well fat) with SCMS and cleaned with router plane. Tenon shoulders pared as the final step.

You then apply tape to the now cut section of...
You then apply tape to the now cut section of paint. The attempt to remove the tape. Poor adhesion and the paint peels back.
Never done it myself .. But they are the instructions I remember. -
