My motor looks like the brushes are 90 degrees,...
My motor looks like the brushes are 90 degrees, plus reversing the polarity works fine. Problem is the attached fan which now works great for sucking air out of the motor, not pushing air in.

First & second one I did pipeclay, as I mounted it sufficiently far out the it would fit a 6" chuck too. Plus magnets are easy to come by so I was going to fit another magnet to a 3 jaw in time.
