Thanks for that. I'm doing this for a friend who definately prefers hard & glossy, whereas I'd prefer a renewable finish like several wiped-on tung oil coats, then an occasional re-application.... -

Claret ash problem
I've made a dovetail saw handle from claret ash and applied BLO finish. This seemed to have darkened the grain (especially end grain, natch) unacceptably - almost a very muddy dark grey.
Any ideas... -
