Replacing hardwood deck joists with treated pine?
I'm replacing some rotting hardwood joists in my deck, and I was wondering if treated pine might be a better replacement timber? These joists get rained on, and that is why the hardwood ones rotted...

I'm cleaning up a hardwood joist that is in my deck that had some rot started in it along one side. This was because someone earlier had nailed a plank to the side of the joist creating a nice pocket...

Thanks for the lead! Looks like just the sort of thing I need -- I haven't seen these tools before. Probably much safer than a router in the case of hitting a nail, etc.
